Environmental Remediation Projects

Former Brine Pit Closure, Decommission and Demolition- Odessa, TX

  • Approximately 1,430 cy of salt were relocated from the brine pit into an adjacent brine pit.
  • Obsolete steel and HDPE pipe conveyance lines were removed and blind-flanged during the closure of the brine pit. Various appurtenant structures were removed and segregated into disposal stockpiles.
  • Opal removed approximately 7,500 sf of multi-media liner containing six layers of materials and a leachate detection system was removed. The liner and other demolished materials were disposed as special wastes in an offsite industrial landfill.
  • Approximately 16,500 cy of borrow material was excavated, hauled, placed, and compacted in the former location of the brine pit. Grading and seeding were completed to prevent ponding of precipitation and direct storm runoff

Environmental Remediation

    Diesel Fuel Cleanup- Lordsburg, NM

  • Design and construction of a system to remove heavily contaminated soils from below the pavement using 23 two-foot diameter auger holes, allowing the highway to remain in use
  • Filling each auger hole with reinforced concrete to form a barrier wall enabling contaminated soils to be excavated within the adjacent easement while the highway remained active
  • Transportation of soils 53 one-way miles for landfarm treatment and later use as a landfill soil cover

Tank Farm 145 Jet Fuel Remediation/Stapleton Redevelopment Center- Denver, CO

  • Segregation of a potable water supply line and installed a new 800-ft 8-inch diameter water line around a former jet fuel tank farm
  • Excavation of more than 45,000 cubic yards (yd3) of soils from an approximate 200-ft x 200-ft area
  • Segregation and stockpiling of clean soils. Contaminated soils were transported off-site and disposed in an approved facility
